Everybody's gotta learn sometime...

From right out of left field, in 2003 came Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It really defies description, let's just say it's the most tragic and comedic mind trip (literally) of a movie you will ever see. I hate Jim Carey, and I loved him in this movie. It's subtle and warped, just the way break-up movies should really be. It's about a man who finds out his girlfriend paid money to have her memory of him erased. So, in retaliation, he goes to the same company and pays to have her erased. As the procedure begins, Joel is transported throughout all the good and bad times, making for one helluva sad movie. Perhaps one of the most beautifully tragic scenes in all of film-dom happens near the end, as they talk to each other, with a beachouse crumbling all around them. Beck's haunting contribution serves as the perfect compliment to the film, but you really must watch it to believe it. Pop fun from Polyphonic Spree also serve as a happy note.

Beck - Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime ***get it***
Polyphonic Spree - Light and Day
Jon Brion - Strings that Tie You
The Willowz - I Wonder
